Seals come in two types:
Ritual Seals
Portable Seals
Ritual Seals:
These seals are large inked seals, typically written on surfaces other than seal parchment. They are composed of several different parts that make the seal function correctly.
-A locus point, where the user(s) channel chakra. The effects of a ritual seal cannot effect a locus point.
-A focus, where the seal's effect is centered at, this can be a healing zone, the center of a barrier, etc.
-A body, which contains the seal's rules in writing, when damaged, can cause the seal to malfunction.
A ritual seal may have any number of locus points, and any number of bodies, but only a single focus. The focus of a seal does not necessarily need to be written, but can be in the center of multiple bodies a large distance away.
Ritual seals have a huge variety of effects. They can alter the environment around the seal, affect an object on the focus, move an object to the focus, or anything the character is creative enough to think of.
Ritual seals are often paid for in two ways.
-A power payment, denoting the strength or general effectiveness of the seal. Some Ritual seals do not have variable scales of power.
-A duration payment. If the character doesn't stay in the locus point, a duration payment will determine how long the seal lasts without his input. For seals whose effects are instant and single-use, this would simply be a cost of activation.
Portable Seals:
These seals are small, portable inked seals that are typically placed on parchment. They are composed of fewer parts than ritual seals.
-A focus, which is not always needed, can be where the seal draws or expels energy.
-A body, which contains the seal's rules in writing.
Portable seals are much simpler than ritual seals, and encompass simple, often one-use tasks, such as exploding tags, or elemental containment seals. The most common form of this seal is the storage seal.
Regardless of the seal's type, it takes the same number of actions to make based on rank, and same number of actions to activate.
C rank Sealing[/size]
C rank seals are the simplest of seals, and the lowest level. They consist of simple, one-time only effects that consume the seal. Examples include explosive tags, storage seals, basic summoning seals, small elemental seals, etc. These seals contain up to C rank jutsu, and can usually contain about 8 units of item space. The only rules for C rank seals, is that they cannot include living things, or things that were once alive. People, animals, blood, etc. are excluded from the list of things that can be implanted into a C rank seal.
B rank Sealing[/size]
B rank seals have a greater variety of options in comparison to C rank seals, being able to contain double the amount of items, or up to B rank jutsu. They are also allowed to contain other seals. They will typically have double the effect radius, or damage, compared to their C rank counterparts. Their power is great enough that they can contain non-human living creatures within them, or, transport any living thing from one place to another.
A and S rank Sealing
A and S rank seals are particularly powerful, as well as complex. As they are so difficult to understand or explain, you must ask a staff member for help on the subject if you wish to learn how to use these powerful techniques. Only A or S rank seals can become Ritual Seals.
A rank seals have no reason containing tools or items, but hold A rank jutsu easily. If they are ritual seals, they can even directly affect the world around them, or people they are planted on. When entering this area of seals, things like chakra suppression, artificial gravity, sensing networks, and self-activated traps become available.
S rank seals are capable of virtually anything. Because the player must write his own S rank seal following a numeric code, the proper combination can lead to virtually anything. Shields, deflection, absorption, implantation of bloodlines, modifying the laws of space and time around the seal, etc. If the player can imagine it, and work out the proper number combination, he could probably do it using S ranked seals. Be warned, however, that S rank seals often come with devastating drawbacks, especially those that have a permanent influence over something or someone. The drawbacks are just as extensive as the abilities of the seals themselves, so be wary of a new seal before using it.
