Items:
Items are anything that your character uses to improve or otherwise aid his chances in a fight. All items cost ryo. This topic splits further to two sub-topics, Weapons, and Equipment. Items are either held in pouches, or worn on your character's person.
Each character has a 5 slot weapon pouch when they graduate from the academy.
Characters may purchase more advanced weapon pouches that carry more weapons when they can afford to.
Each character also has 2 miscellaneous slots to hold anything not classified as a weapon.
Weapons:
Weapons are items that are used to augment a character's fighting ability, either as a temporary bonus or as long as the weapon is wielded.
Types of Weapons:
Armament: Modifies the character's basic fighting abilities to do more damage, or different types of damage. They also improve and strengthen defensive abilities.
Tool: Used as a throwing weapon or as an augment for throwing weapons. Can alternatively be one-use items like exploding tags, or pills. Either way, Tools are purchased in large amounts as they will be used up like weapon ammunition.
Equipment:
Equipment is an item class that is more permanent than a Weapon. Equipment is typically worn, and provides it's bonuses as passive, permanent boosts, similar to perks. A character has a total of 5 Equipment Slots, and are usually things such as belts, shoes, rings, necklaces, earrings, headbands and other similar things. If you can wear it, then it's able to be a piece of equipment.
Types of Equipment:
Basic: Basic Equipment ranges from E-C rank in quality, and grants very small statistical bonuses to the character.
Shinobi: Shinobi Equipment ranges from B-S rank in quality, and grants powerful statistical bonuses to the character.
Unique: Unique Equipment ranges from C-A rank in quality, but instead of granting statistical bonuses, it grants bonuses of all kinds, much more like a perk.
